Everybody Has Fascinating Stuff to Share

Imagine picking someone at random that you have never seen, didn’t know his name, age or anything else, and carry on a conversation for about one hour.

We did and it was interesting and enjoyable.

What happened was we had a representative from a company to come by and give us an estimate on a project we are considering.

The man came, had polite talk, gave us an estimate and we thanked him and he went  to get into his vehice.   The doors were locked.  He was locked out and his keys were locked in.

He had to call a co-worker or an office worker or somebody to bring him the extra key.

He said he would wait by his truck and apologized.  Back inside I heard the temperature was predicted to get in the high 80s.  I carried him a bottle of cold water out and suggested it would be more comfortable and cooler inside.  He took the water and thanked me, then politely turned down my offer of coming inside.

I told him to suit himself.  I went back inside.

Less than 10 minutes later he said he would take advantage of my generous offer.  He, Anna, and I sat at the table and talked, mostly getting to know us and us getting to know him:

He is 31 years old.   He has 9 siblings, 5 brothers and 4 sisters, or was it the other way around?  He lives in Powder Springs.  He and his wife have 3 children and they are home schooling them.  He lived in Hawaii for several years.  Hawaii was the base from where he and their organization did missionary work on little islands in the Pacific area.  Along with being a Home-School teacher to their 3 children his wife also raises goats.

His father owns a lot of land in Harelson County, Georgia.  They are saving their money to build a house on his father’s property.  So are his siblings and some have done it already.  It will be their family compound.

Everybody has some fascinating stuff to tell.
