Benjamin's First Visit

Thanksgiving Day was Benjamin's first visit to our house.  Was he impressed?  Was he scared?  Time will tell.

Redeux Civil War BURNING OF MARIETTA video

Remember the Burning of Atlanta?  We had our Burning of Marietta too.  Last year of the year before we had a reenactment of it.  I was there with my video camera, just in case somebody caught on fire....just joking.

International Aura Awareness Day

Today is International Aura Awareness Day.  Do you know what Aura is?  Come close and I will whisper it in your ear.   Wait!  I can't do that!  But I can put in an electronic message and tell you.

Aura is your personal space.  If you are so close you can smell my body you are in my Aura space..  I would say the normal  Aura allotment is between 5 to 12 inches.  Or maybe if your main diet is beans, or if you are a vegetarian about 25 to 30 feet.

Son of Haunted Marietta

I guess this rerun would have been best served during October, the Halloween Season, instead of the Christmas shopping season.  Oh well.

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!!

Return of Pedicabs in Marietta

The season is upon us.  In just about a week it will be time for Marietta's Annual Tour of Homes, aka MARIETTA PILGRIMAGE.   When there is a Marietta Tour of Homes there will be the Marietta Pedicab.  We hired one for a short distance.  I couldn't resist.

Off With Their Heads! NOT!

Did you know the tradition of the President of the United States Pardoning Turkeys from  getting beheaded started off with Truman?   Or did it?  I read that Lincoln did it also.  And maybe some off and on since then, but Harry S. Truman kicked off the traditional officially.

I do not know for a fact, but would not be surprised if Obama got criticized for pardoning the Thanksgiving  turkey.   To some, he can't do anything right.
I am almost sure some people will search for a reason to criticize his every move.

Like, why did he pick a white turkey to pardon?

Rerun: Helicopter Ride Over Marietta

Happy Thanksgiving!  This is one of my favorite videos I have made.  It is my way of giving free helicopter rides over my hometown today.

Redeux, July 3rd Parade, 1910

Just to remind you there are other warmer times of celebration.

Moving Day

Today Benjamin and his parents Rocky and  Sabrina are hurdling a new milestone.  They are moving into their new home, which is Ben's second residence in his four months.

A nice big kitchen!

I think there is a fireplace mantel in every room.   I hope that doesn't confuse Santa Clause.

An apparition or a light reflection on a polished floor?

Also, there are plenty of stained glass windows.  I think we counted six.

Their house was built in the early 1920s.  It is almost 100 years old.  It was remodeled not long ago.

Benjamin said, "We will take it!"

Did you know in Atlanta if you are a homeowner you are responsible for the upkeep sidewalk in front of your house?  Interesting.  I think if it was me I would put up a toll.

Tuba Skinny - Chloe

Sorry Excuse for An Excuse

I tell you, I am a sorry excuse for an excuse.  I tried to ease the tension between Gentiles and Muslims today.  I just left the Cajun meat market and beside my truck were 4 females:  a mother, two teenage daughters and one preteen daughter.  By their garb they were wearing I think they were Muslims.  The girls were happy giggling Muslims.

The mother scolded her daughters, saying,  "Hurry up and get into the car this nice gentleman (meaning me) was waiting on them so that he can get into his."

I gently told them in my good old boy accent  to take their time, no rush.

The mother, in her heavy thick accent said to me, "Please sir, I was using you an excuse to hurry them up, please do not take that away from me."

Well, shoot, I can't do anything right, not even be a good excuse.

What About That Dawg!?!

I have an idea!

This evening while I was cooking steaks on the grill  on the deck Willow  walked, almost dancing, on her tip toes, or tip-paws, with her nose aimed upward to get the best whiff of the meat sizzling.

I am thinking of videoing her next time and setting it to a ballet music, such as Swan Lake.

It might work!  Again, it might not.

Rockwell, Sabrina, and Benjamin Hunter's New/Old House

The new residence of the family Rockwell Tyson , Sabrina Sexton, and Benjamin Rockwell Hunter,.

It was built in the early 1920s, almost 100 years ago. It was remolded recently.  It is one block west of Grant's Park in Atlanta.  The claim to fame of Grants Park is the Atlanta Zoo is there, and the Atlanta Cyclorama was there, but I think I read it is closed for repairs.

The  two pictures above are the ones Rocky and Sabrina furnished with the announcement of the purchase.  The pictures below are the ones I took when I snooped around a few weeks ago.

Rerun: Lee and Diane Cooper Moss anniversary Jul 14, 2011

On This Date November 17th

On this date in 1973:

President Nixon told AP "...people have got to know whether or not their President is a crook. Well, I'm not a crook"

Also on this date in 1913 the Panama Canal  opens.

One of the workers* of the Panama Canal Zone was my father's uncle Oscar Ray Hunter* (1884-1963), son of William A. Hunter/Trammell.  Oscar married a Panama Canal project nurse Charlotte Georgia McCabe (1881-1958).  They had one son  William Ray Hunter, who was an engineer for NASA..  He and his wife Dorothy Grace Edmonson used to come to Hunter Reunions in Marietta and Blairsville.

*Oscar was a bookkeeper for the Panama Canal project.

Repeat Hooters

Another repeat.  Harry Hanson won a free visit to Hooters and he was allowed to bring along a long table full of friends.  Harry is the most generous friend ever!

The only thing I can say is "What about those wings!"

SUNDAY FUNNIES!! TALES FROM THE CRYPT - SHOCKING!

We haven't did a horror since a few days after Halloween when we had one LITTLE LULU MEETS THE WITCH.  And we haven't had a TALES OF THE CRYPT in a long time.  This story was probably written or stolen by Al Feldstein and publisher Bill Ganes, the collaborated a lots.  Al also did the artwork.   After EC horrors comicbooks folded and only MAD was left standing.  Editor Harvey Kurtzman left (fired) and Al Fedstien took Harvey's job and was on it 30 years.  I met Al and Dragon Con in Atlanta in the early 2000s and he was very friendly and congenial, he had all the time to talk to me as I wanted, which is not good, he was getting no takers on his art work.
