The Art of Negotiating

THE ART OF NEGOTIATING.   We had two antique dealers over to Marie's house yesterday to look at antiques and other interesting items.

The two dealers are friends, go to the same church, and refer customers to each other because each is very much aware what the other one has.   They also like to bicker and jokingly bitch at each other.   They are probably in their 70s.  The remind me of the two elderly characters Shirley Maclaine  and  Olympia Dukakis played in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. ... fussing at each other but deeply caring for each other.

One wanted a couch in Marie's living room but did not have means to transport it.  The other one has a truck and labor (her husband).  She said she would charge her a fair price to move the couch to her antique mall space.... or again she might go ahead and buy it herself then sell it to her friend and make a nice profit (that is them carrying on).

The other one said something like, "If you do that  if you die before I do I am going to ask to do the makeup for your face, everybody knows how close we are, and I am going to put bright pink lipstick on you that will cover from your nose to your chin and across to both ears."

I cackled.  That was funny!
