Biltmore in December 2007

We visited the Biltmore Estate near Asheville, Buncome Co., NC,. during the Christmas season 2007.  Photography was not allowed inside the mansion, but we ran wild with the camera outside.  We also visited in the spring time and summer, which will probably pop up on chicken-fats in the future.

This is a pond on the estate that Peter Sellers was at tending his garden.  I cannot think of the movie right now.  But the essence of  the story was Peter Sellers was not all there.  And somehow how got displaced from his care keeper and he showed up mixing with the political elite and they misunderstood all his garden talk as metaphoric - like "You have to give plant nourishment to grow."  And they would snap their fingers and exclaim, "By golly!  You are right"  When that is all he was talking out, plants, he didn't know much about humans.  '"BEING THERE!"  That was the name of the movie!  (It just came to me).

This is the main gate to get in (and buy your tickets).

This is the French Broad River that runs through the property.  Back in the 1700s one of my Hunter ancestors' brother owned a tavern on French Broad River.  Also, a Killian distant cousin sold his land
to the Vanderbilt organization for Biltmore property.
