Norman Rockwell was born February 3, 1894 and died November 8, 1978.
I think he was a talented genius capturing people interacting with each other. Most of his paintings seem just, well, so typically American. So typically Saturday Evening Post American at the time he illustrated them.
Things have change.
The background has changed. There are less big shade trees and more nondescript building; less pastures, swimming holes, old wood bridges, and so on, you get the idea.
The people and their styles have changed too.
But, I think the interaction of people that Norman Rockwell depicted still lives. They are universal and not so American as worldly.
