Hunter Brothers & Cousin Joe Hunter

This picture was taken about 1980, give or take a year, at the Marietta Hunter Reunion.

It is of the surviving Hunter brothers at the time, and one distant cousin.

As always when the Hunter Brothers were posing for a picture they would line up in age order.  I’m sure they asked Joe when was his birthyear, because he was born in 1914, so he was bet ween my Daddy Ed Hunter (b1911) and Jack born 1914.

The line up:

Bus Hunter, Ed Huner, Joe Hunter* Jack Hunter, Doug Hunter, and Stanley Hunter

*Joe Hunter (1914-2001) worked  as a truck driver and retired from John Deere Tractor Company.  His father was James T. Hunter, son of our gg grandfather Jason Henderson Hunter.

James T. Hunter (1865-1919) had an interesting career.  Here are my notes:

Changed named to James T. Wright because RR strike in Osawatomie, Kansas.  He was fired as a striker with the name James T. Hunter.  He changed his name to James T. Wright and was hired again.  He raised his family using their surname as Wright also.

Osawatomie, Kansas, was home to John Brown who, with his sons, with their raids, were believed partially responsible for the start of the Civil War.
