Home of the Crackers - Ponce de Leon Ball Park
I have some fond memories of this stadium. I have went with the scouts and also with Southern Discount Little League baseball team.
I remember going up to the top of the blenchers and making up jingles for Tampa Nugget and Hav-a-Tampa Cigars with Jimmy Pat Pressley*. I still remember the tune and words we made up. It was pretty good. We had no idea what was going on down on the playing field between the Atlanta Crackers and their opponent.
The ball park was bulldozed away many years ago. It is now a complex of paved parking lots and little stores.
*all that creative energy wasted.
