This artilce came from the first issue of HUMBUG, 1957, edited and partly owned by Harvey Kurtzman and illustrated by Al Jaffee. Kurtzman is known for writing his own stories of comics and magazines he edited. But I think Al Jaffee wrote this story. I think this because a lot of Jaffee's works in MAD Magazine and other places Jaffee is illustrating the humor in something mechanical.
