In high school I used to run around with Jenky Latimer. That was abruptly ended in the early summer of 1960 when he had a head on collision.
His brother Parky died yesterday. Parly had Parkinson's disease. He came to the Varner Reunion the year before last. I think he was sick and couldn't speak. I know he will be missed. Here is his obituary:
Parks Parky Latimer, age 76, of Dallas, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was born in Chickamauga, GA, May 9, 1938, to the late, Wylie Parks Latimer, Sr. & the late, Mary Delay Latimer, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Latimer and a daughter, Karen Latimer. Mr. Latimer served in the U. S. Air Force and retired from the City of Elberton after more than 20 years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hartwell, GA and he loved to hunt, fish, and play golf.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Starrett Latimer; daughters & sons-in-law, Kelly Latimer of Jasper, GA, Tammy & Mike Crowe of Dallas, GA, and Angie & Gary Badertscher of Dallas, GA; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 2:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Don Voyles officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Meadows Memorial Cemetery, with Jeremy Griffin, Brandon Griffin, Eric Bradertscher, Josh Crowe and Perry Adair serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
