"Mrs. Tyson" is shown on the detailed 1862-63 map of Lt. Koerner, C.S.A. Her widow's dower of 900 acres was located on the south side of what was then the road from Greenville to Tarboro and was a part of a plantation which had formerly belonged to Alfred Forbes. A current description of the site is that it lies on N.C. Route 43, about 4 miles west of Greenville.
- HERITAGE OF PITT COUNTY, NC, - Bruce C. Tyson, Jr.

Notes for LEMUEL TYSON:
Lemanuel bought out the inheritance of several of his siblings.. Throughout his life he continued to acquire land and slaves. Before he died he was the owner of the largest plantations in Pitt County, N.C.
When he died some of his children were not of legal age and they were placed under guardianship of William J. Laughinhouse, husband of their aunt, Ann Vines Laughinghouse. The settlement of the estate continued though the years of the Civill War, and the rising value of a child's share dring that period provides and interesting example of the inflation which beset Confederate currency.
- Bruce C. Tyson, Jr.

Children are listed above under (89) Lemuel TYSON.
