Adam Wandering Around Uncle Tommy's Place
Our son Adam when he was about 9-10. These were taken at his late Uncle Tommy's
place. The little house behind him, if I
remember correctly, housed a walk-in freezer or giant cooler for such things as hunting game and farm
animal carcasses.
Tommy used to say, "If we don't grow it or kill it we don't eat it."

Bustin Butts Briskets and Preacher Cakes
We met our sister-in-law and Thelma and her daughter TammY, (both Cartersville residents) at Bistin Butts Hickory Smoked BBQ today (Thursday). We met them on this day because it is Thursday and Thursday is Brisket Day (come early before they run out).
My iphone
does not give this brisket justice. The
beef brisket was delicious. It was moist, tasty, and tender.
It was so tender I think I could have cut it by staring at it.
The
Brunswick stew tasted good but it was
fine, not lumpy, chunky, or hearty.
The waiter
and waitress that I saw were very cordial and efficient.
Like other
BBQ joints it is decorated in Early Hawg.
We were
there at lunch time, before noon, and the place filled up quickly. One time I saw a line at the cash register
stretching out the door. I bet they were ordering beef briskets to go.
Bustin' Butt
Hickory Smoke BBQ is located outside of Cartersville near the Etowah Indian
Mounds in a small strip shopping center surrounded by SOD farms.
Our table ordered
a serving of Preacher's Cake. Our waiter
brought it over early and told us, "Before we run out." I am not sure what Preacher's Cake is made
of. Maybe cheese cake and maybe some other rich ingredients. I wonder why they named it Preacher's
Cake? Maybe someone bit into it, not expecting is richness and said, "Holy Shit!"

Cartersville, Ga., Sat, September 19, 2015
After I returned from the dog park we got into our
car that was packed full of material and drove to Cartersville. A friend of our niece Tammy knows a lady who
does a lot of sewing and she said she would take all the fabric. She was very thankful when we gave it to her.
Then we met
our sister-in-law Thelma in downtown Cartersville and we had lunch at the Swheat
Deli on Main Street. The restaurant had good food at reasonable prices and was
decorated uniquely with antiques. Also
the staff was friendly.
HOWEVER!! The only thing that bugged me is that they
had only restroom for both sexes, and a sign on the door saying there was not a
lock on the door, knock before opening the door. When I went to the restroom I knocked on the
door waiting and listened for someone to say something. The bad thing is was the there was a big long
table closest to the door and they were all talking. I wasn't sure if I could hear a reply on the
other side of the door or not. Finally,
I decided to take my chance and open the door and the lights were out. Whew!
Then, as I stood and did my thing I had to super listen, with nerves on
edge, listening for a knock.
After lunch
we drove out to Euharlee to visit with
Tammy, Thelma's middle daughter. I am
always impressed by the details in their big
yard - lookie:
