Snakes in the Grass?

The other day I filled up the back of my truck, that I dug up at my late mother-in-law's house, with monkey grass (A.K.A. border grass).  I brought it home and unloaded it in the back yard, watered it good, and will probably plant it next week.
I  told a friend what I did and she said snakes are known to hang out in monkey grass.
I did not notice any snakes, but I didn't know that monkey grass was known as a snake hangout.
I handled each clout of dirt/grass twice.
If I had known that I would have been paranoid and watching each blade of grass, and probably  see what I was looking for.

Because of my ignorance the event was more productive.
Ignorance is bliss.
