I was watering the hanging ferns that are between the deck and carport when it started raining.  Although the ferns cannot get the rain I could, because I was on the deck watering them. 

I saw a man across our side yard inside a screen-in back porch waving in a strange circular motion. 

I haven't met this family yet and wondered if I should wave back so I studied his circular waving - should I repeat the circular waving, like washing windows or should I jump up and down and wave like a cheerleader?

He solved the problem for me by walking away into the shadows of the porch.

Now, that I had time to think about it, I think he had a handle rolling something to keep the rain from coming in.

I'm glad I didn't embarrass myself.
