1st Color Broadcast on the 1st

Niles Trammell, pictured above, was President of NBC when it made history January 1, 1954, by broadcasting the Tournament of Roses from Pacsadena, California.*

I'm curious, how many people would have color TV sets then to receive the broadcast?

One year my son Rocky in the Sprayberry High School Band marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade playing his trombone.  A few years before, my first cousin, once removed in-law Paul Prance marched in that parade.

And while I am raking up for claims of fame through relatives, I should mention that Niles Trammell (above), is/was my 3rd cousin, twice removed.
