The story of Give-em-Hell-Harry is one of my favorites. And he is one of my favorite Presidents. He accomplished so much when everyone expected so little from him. Rose to the occasion, most certainly.

When Harry Truman initially used the statement "The Buck Stops Here." it was a matter of him taking responsibility because he was the president.
I think GWB thought he meant the "Buck stops with the Democrats" - they have always been his scapegoat.
If he meant the Democratic Congress, he was probably correct. But that was not what he really meant, he and Cheney were the typical negative politicians. Spin is more important than accomplishing. Clinton was no better. He married a professional killer. But he did give us a budget surplus.
No telling what direction the U.S.would have taken, positive I think, if Clinton kept his fly zipped.
