Maybe this section is to show that these better students had a structured life outside the structured class-rooms.
Interesting in the first picture is Doc Atherton politely listens to the kids as they sing Christmas carols. That strange, he usually ran the loitering kids away from his drugstore, saying, "either buy something or get out!"
