SUNDAY FUNNIES - THE SPIRIT

(click any page to make it readable)

My comic appreciation is somewhat limited. I never really got much into the the super hero thing.

About the closest I came to superheroism is THE SPIRIT by Will Eisner. THE SPIRIT art is dazzling to me, realistic urban artsy - like rats crawling out of a sewer or a puddle of water or a water seeping down bricks.... nobody can draw water like Will Eisner and his staff did.

However, having said all that about his realistic urban art, there is not much urban to the below story.

THE SPIRIT was a daily newspaper comic strip in the 40s and was assembled like Ford. But someplace on this assembly line was somebody, probably Will Eisner, that had an eye for art in an Alfred Hitchock camera frame angle.

Take it away Will!
