The Bell

This bell is at the edge of Anna's mother's carport.

This same bell was used as an announcement mechanism when the men worked in the fields. A certain number of clangs would be "Lunch is Ready" and so many clangs would be "Emergency - come quickly!" And other number of clangs would have other messages.

I wonder how many clangs meant: "Go back to work! The kids were just playing!"

Pretty cool- literally a dinner bell!

Steve,
Not exactly one of those dainty little dinner bells for the servants to bring the next course, but something that can be heard for a distant over hills and through the woods.

In high school there was a boy that had a triangle-shape face - he had a flattop, and his chin came to a point. His nick name was "Clang Clang" or sometimes "Grub Time". Recently I saw him at the funeral home and I couldn't remember his real name.
