New Orleans - more slides

Here are some more New Orleans slides. I know I did not take them in January 1965. On that trip with the Navy it never occur to me to take a horse and buggy tour of the French Quarters. However we did when just Anna and I went in the early 70s, and also we took a horse & buggy tour in 1993. So, it could be either of those. Someone who knows cars could probably give an estimate.

Interesting before our 1993 trip we read up on the history of New Orleans and when we had took the history tour we heard the tour guide, while making the horse “giddy-up” made many factual errors….. oh well, it was somebody working their way though college, so she made a few honest mistakes – so what?

Joe, I’m still looking for more Jan 65.

Thanks for these New Orleans pictures. I was looking on Flickr today and found some really good photos of the following: French Market Bar, Cosimo's Bar. Just about anything now can be found on Flickr. Just type in a name and there you are. You can also use google maps street views to find just about any location now by street address. Flickr is really amazing. So is YouTube. It is like traveling without all the hassles.

Joe,
You are right. You can go to Flickr and choose about anyplace on the plant and put a search on it and see great pictures - which puts mine to shame.

Yep. I typed in French Quarter on Flickr.com and it says there are 92,346 pictures currently on Flickr of "The French Quarter".
Here is the link.

I also typed in Antoines and found some really good pictures of that famous restaurant inside and out.
Today I will be looking at pictures of Paris, France. Not Paris Texas.

Joe,

Speaking of Paris, France, that is where my oldest son Rocky and his fiance' Sabrina will take their honeymoon in April.

Speaking of Paris, Texas, that is near where my grandfather was born in 1879, Frank Paris Hunter.

Edwin: Tell Rocky to watch out for pickpockets in Paris. Especially in the subway system there. The young pickpockets have tried to lift my wallet on three diferrent occasions. Luckily they did not get it. Best not to carry a wallet in your back pocket over there. The thieves target Americans. It is a big problem. Avoid the subway over there if possible. They have a good bus system or just take a cab. Other than the problem with pickpockets on the subway it is a wonderful city full of beauty. "How're you gonna keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paree?"

Joe,
Thanks, I'll pass on what you said.

He was there for a few days when he was a teenager and Sabrina I think lived there as a military brat, but it never hurts to have a refreshment briefing.
