ALES PRICE3 RIDLEY (WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born 1806 in , , NC2, and died 13 Apr 1886 in Bridgeport, Jackson Co, Al3,4,5. He married MARTHA EMELINE 'LOLLIE' DAVIS 01 Jun 1843 in Ridley, Heard Co, Ga, daughter of JOSHUA DAVIS and PATSY TRAMMELL. She was born 13 Jul 1823 in , Wilks, Ga, and died 09 Feb 1898 in , Heard, Ga.

Notes for ALES PRICE RIDLEY:
Family tradition is that Ales and his two brothers Charles Martin and Elisha Asa came south in the early 1830's driving horses.
Ales enlisted as a bugler or musician in Captain Meredith Price's Company, in the Battalion of Jackson County Mounted Volunteers of Alabama, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel David Cawlfield.
On October 20, 1837, Ales enlisted with Captain Sever Boulton's Company G, N. Alabama Mounted Volunteers, under Colonel Benjamin Snodgrass, as a Sergeant Express Courier. He was honorably discharged on 9 April 1838 at Fort Mitchell, Alabama and listed as disabled with pleurisy. Remarks noted: Horse lost or stolen March 19, remounted himself March 20."
For his service Ales received on January 6, 1843, a land grant for 295.5 acres of land in Jackson County, Alabama.
His wife taught him how to read and write after they were married.
After the war he settled in Franklin, Heard County, Georgia, where his brother Charles Martin Ridley was living.
It is said that in 1886 Ales was visiting his daughter, Sophronia, in Bridgeport, Alabama. While crossing the Tennessee River his horse stumbled and fell, causing Ales to break his hip. Complications and pneumonia developed and he died. His body was sent back to Heard County, Ga., for burial.
