This Day In History, June 21st

Jane Russell was born in 1921 and died this year, Feb., 28, 2011.

Jane had a hand, or maybe another body part, in the creation of pushup bras which of course led to Victorial's Secret and other hottie underwear companies.

In 1943, Jane Russell was being filmed in the move The OUTLAW which was a Howard Hughes movie. Being a perfectionist, Hughes was not satisfied with the way Jane's breasts looked on film. He wanted to show them off more. Then Howard Hughes, always thinking outside the box, designed the strapless pushup bra. And the rest is history.

When I think of Jane Russell I think of the movies GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDS, UNDERWATER, and THE REVOLT OF MAMIE STOVER.
