Happy Flag Day!
SHOCK SUSPENSE Comic Book was published by EC Publishing Company, the same company that published MAD, PANIC, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, other horror comics, science fiction comics, and war comics.
SHOCK SUSPENSE dealt with moral issues such greed, hate, prejudiced, unfairness, and, well you get the idea. This issue had “THE PATRIOTS” in it. It was published in 1952 – right during the “Red Scare” all one had to do to ruin somebody’s career was to accuse them of being a member of the Communist Party – you didn’t even have to provide proof, all you had to do was to act like you knew what you are talking about. That is how paranoid we were.
I think “THE PATRIOTS” was about 6 or 7 pages, but the last three pages pretty much is the story in a nutshell.
