The Fosters

This is a picture of the Anna’s family, the Foster Family. The picture was probably taken in the Roswell-Alpharetta-Milton, Georgia area. The elderly couple are Anna’s great grandparents Charles Brooks and Ardella Vinson Foster. They had four sons and a daughter. The youngest man in the picture was Anna’s grandfather, Paul Everett Foster (1895 – 1936), who looks about 18 or 19 in this picture, I think it was taken about 1913-15.

Tell Anna that this is a good-looking family. Look at the way they are dressed - I love the old fashions. For some reason, the plain dark suits of the time that the men wore always looked so much more fancy when they stood next to a woman in a dress with a high collar. Aren't those collars beautiful? I'm sure they were hand embroidered, along with hand crochet/knitted lace.

(Most of the snow at my house was melted away this morning - no snowman for me!)

Deborah,
It appears that that particular Foster bunch was very concerned with getting their images recorded in the right appropriate attire. They seemed to be very fashionable for the times. When I see an average picture of them I think "23 Skiddoo!"

Yeah, our snow came, then it was gone.

Glad you came by my blog today. I keep two identical blogs, this one and one on blogstream (http://sinannblog.blogstream.com/). It seems that the blogstream one gets more response so I have neglected blogger. Used to come by yours frequently but got out of the habit. Sorry. I will get back in the Chicken Fat groove.

Sid,
You always make interesting reading on your blog.
I could not agree with you more that Church and State should be separate - That is a sure way to lose your freedom - to have any religion call the shots.
