Blackwell Cemetery
This is the Blackwell Cemetery. While out exercising in my area I saw it. It is behind Sprayberry High School near Marietta, Ga.
There are plenty of Blackwells* in Marietta but apparently none of them feel the responsibility to upkeep this little cemetery. There is a sign saying the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department has adopted this cemetery. And the deputies do a good job with its upkeep.
I have no kin that I know of in this small cemetery.
There are about 6 or 7 unmarked stones and maybe four or five name markers.
These two CSA men were buried almost side by side. One an Officer and the other one a private. I don’t know, but I think they were probably brothers.
*One Blackwell in the 1930s wrote a history of Marietta.
