Bill and Lewis

Bill Grizzard and David Clackum at a Varner Reunion.  Is Bill Grizzard related to Lewis Grizzard?  I don't know.

But I do know David Clackum lived next door to my Grandma and Opal in the Clay Homes and we both had paper routes in the same area.  I delivered the Atlanta Journal and David delivered the Marietta Journal.  I don't know if it is still true or not, but back in the mid 1950s if a Marietta Journal subscriber did not get their newspaper they would send the customer one via Victory Cab, and bill the paper boy. 

Being that today is Labor Day it is worth mentioning, that was some gratitude towards its lowest paid employees. 

Of course, one might say the paperboys were self-employed and it was the paperboy's mistake.
