GOBAG Pulls Off Another One

Another Good Old Boys and Girls (GOBAG) Eating Meeting churned itself into another relaxing evening – or what if from 4pm to about 6pm – early late afternoon or early evening. Or maybe a very late morning.

Our guest of honor was Van Pearl Berg. Van wears two hats. He wears a Cobb County Assistant DA hat and also a Marietta City Councilman Hat. If you check back on this blog I have a picture of him and his wife dancing in the street at a concert a couple weeks ago.

Monty cooked a delicious batch of spaghetti and sauce. Roper called and told me what was being cooked and to wear a bib. I told him I would need more than a bib - likely I would need a water hose.

Pam Eaks and her husband came. They live near Athens in Statham, Barrow County* now. They were visiting kin-folks when Pam thought of our GOBAG meetings that she read on this blog and came. Somebody commented that she is still just as good looking as she used to be. I agreed, but added back then something about her made me think of a Persian cat. But she lost her Persian cat-look. She is a retired school teacher and tried doing a gig in Florida but came back to Georgia. We were glad they came and hope they return.

This is car belongs to Hugs. That is all you need to know. He bought it in 1980 and practically rebuilt everything thing. He did a lot of work on it and is rightly very proud of it. When he ran his hand along the curvature of the hood it looked so sensual I thought about being polite and look away.

A young man named Ellis showed up running for a commissioner seat. He didn't say a whole lot.

*A Barrow County or Winder (which is in Barrow County) police officer caught me speeding on Hwy 316 when we were driving back home after visiting our son. He told me should throw me in jail and said he was going to sit in his police car and think about it. I guess I passed his test. He let me go with a very expensive ticket.

Eddie.
It was so good to see you after all these years. Thanks for the publicity on your blog. A Persion cat??? You will have to explain that one. Bob and I had a great time seeing all the familiar faces and are glad we came.

Bob reminded me of the blog you did a while back on Virginia Hill. She was Bob's second cousin. She was the girlfriend of Bugsy Siegal and they built the first casino in Las Vegas. He was killed and she escaped to Austria only to die a mysterious death a few years later. We often wonder what might have happened if the empire had survived. Bob and I might have been enjoying some of that money now ourselves! Who knows?

Hope to see you again soon. Keep the good work coming. It's a good read!

Pam,
Think of a Persian cat as a cute cuddly lovable creature but also cunning enough to know every move you are about to make. Now, you are even better! (whew! I weaseled myself out of that!)
Bob is second cousin to Virginia Hill? I think that would be very interesting to have family connections to some great untold stories. I was going to say we toured her house at the corner of Frances Avenue and Cherokee Street, but you already know that.

Your recap of the GOBAGs is fast becoming the highlight of my day ... at least on Wednesdays. I love the pictures :)

Pam is gorgeous. How does she manage to stay so youthful? I clicked on the close-up of her and tried to find ONE wrinkle ... there were none ... lol

Have you been following Melanie Oudin? She lost in the quarter finals tonight. Marietta home grown gal, just 17 years old. Isn't that great!

PR, Rock, and G,

Thanks so much for all the nice things you said about me. I really appreciate your kindness more than you know! I feel better now about turning 65 in Nov. I can't believe how quickly time has passed! IT seems like only yesterday that we were teenagers with no worries!
