Sixty-nine years ago this date was the Invasion of Pearl Harbor.
The invasion caused us to jump into WWII. I don't have the statistics but I think the invasion more than anything else inspired millions of young men to put down their plows, or leave their desks, to come to the aid of their country.
One of my father's brohers, Jack Hunter, was at Pearl Harbor that terrible day. He went on to do some heroic deeds in the Pacific.

I toured the Arizona Memorial several years ago. The Waves operating the launch, that takes you out to the Memorial, stop in the middle of the harbor and describe the scene of the attack in 1941. It was awe inspiring.
There were several Japanese tourists on the Memorial when we arrived. You couldn't help contemplating pushing them over the side.
