Headless Horselman and the Pullen familyy

ou find out the most interesting stuff when doing genealogy research. One of my ancestors is Joseph Bookout, born in Holland in 1700. He died in Randolph County, NC. His brother John might have been involved with became a legend which is still alive and well. This is what my research found on John Bookhout (I know, John and Joseph did not spell their surname the same): "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow" (the Headless Horseman) started in the cemetery at the Dutch Reform Church, Tarry-town, New York (near the Hudson River. John BOOKHOUT or his son was serving on the Board of Elders when the legend was born. Later Washington Irvin made the legend into a published story
