Artificial Humans in Cars

Never Pick Up Hitchhikers, you never know what you will pick up..... That has been  a traffic safety rule of common sense, as far back as I can remember.
On the  TODAY SHOW this morning they had a short about two scientists who invented a robot who is currently hitchhiking across Canada.  Not only does it stick it's thumb out but is social and a great conversationist.

I wonder   if it is trained to give  passing cars the finger that drive on by?

The other picture is a lady in New Zealand  with her android giving him a ride.  But I don't think it can carry on a conversation.  But probably serves two other purposes.  One, according to the byline of the picture, helps her  to get to ride in the multi-person lane and the other purpose -  well, who knows?

And it may only be a matter of time a family of criminals gives the scientists an "offer they can't refuse" to combine the social conversationist part of the robot and the ahem qualities of the blowup doll.  It sounds like a Woody Allen movie that is writing itself.
