Notes for JOHN BUNYON RIDLEY:
Family tradition is, John's father sent him to camp with his brother George during the Civil War. John was only twelve years of age but large. John was captured by the Yankees and given the task of loading horseshoes. John ruptured himself and was returned home to his mother so she could care for his injury. A yankee doctor went along home with John to explain to his mother.
John was a Deputy Tax Collector for Jackson County, Alabama, in 1901.
On 27 April 1888 he made his wife, Frances a "Free Dealer"
