Thomas Trammell, 1st to America

 



The first of our Trammell line that came to America is Thomas Trammell. (about 1654-1720). He married Mary Alice Williams (after 1654 – 1689). They had 4 children. One of those was John Trammell (1674/75-1753). He married Mary Garrard Hutt. They had 9 children. One of them was Gerrard Trammell (about 1704- abt 1786). He married Mary Fields. They had 9 children. One of those was Phillip Trammell (1732-1819) . Phillip married Mary Jemima Grymes (1736-1826), They had 8 children. One of those was Sampson Trammell (d.1784).
He had at least two sons. One was Burk Trammell (d 06 Mar 1836 in San Antonio, , Tx.
TRAMMEL, BURKE (1810-1836). Burke traveled to Texas from Tennessee. He took part in the siege of Bexar.qv He later served in theAlamo garrison as a member of Capt. William R. Carey'sqv artillery company. Trammel died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

There were only about 200 Americans that defended the Alamo.
