This paved walking path is in East Cobb Park east of
Marietta. The land was once owned by a
co-worker of mine, Norris Tritt.
Norris's widow donated the land for a public park. The path leads to a pedestrian bridge going
over Sope's Creek (or is it Soap's Creek?).
The name of the bridge is the Norris Tritt Bridge.
Norris was
the postal scheme examiner at the Marietta Post Office. It was his job to test postal clerks to see
if they had some 2000 streets memorized to sort to the proper carrier. If they failed they would get a second and
sometimes third chance, and if they failed they were let go.
Once he
tested a good looking young divorcee named Barbara. Barbara made a bad score- 3 times in a row. When one fails Norris was to deliver the test
result to the supervisor, who in turn notifies the post master.
The postmaster was notified. The next day the postmaster asked Norris was
he sure he graded her fair and correctly.
Norris said
he did.
The
postmaster said surely he made a mistake.
A lady that beautiful could not be that dumb.
Barbara
wasn't so dumb after all, she knew how to dress sexy for men of authority.
