Blood Mountain is a mountain with family history. At the base of it is Helton Waterfalls and a rock's throw away is Volgel State Park, which was the farmlands of poet Byron Hubert Reece, a distant relative.
On the top of Blood Mountain the Appalachian Trail cuts through.
Also near the base, on the north side my g-g-g-grandfather John Hunter had a cabin.
Once, when the boys were teenagers we rented a cabin near the top - beautiful view!

Not only are you up early, you are a walking history book. Amazing. And I would bet you are related to just about every "born here" in Georgia. Do you keep in touch with all of your cousins? Whew, what a job that must be.

No, I only keep communicate with a hand full. Some I wouldn't know them if I saw them on the street. One time Anna and I were in the waiting area of a local restaurant waiting to be called and making small talk to another couple sitting by us and finally the hostess said, "Hunter, party of two." and all 4 of us stood up. The guy was my first cousin and I knew his older brothers and sisters well, I haven't seen him since he was a toddler.
I normally get wake up between 4 and 4:30am - all postal habits are hard to break.
