Checking out MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE

The movie MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE is pretty good. The movie stars Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton. I thought the story-line was lame. It was about a Georgia Church choir near Atlanta trying to win a choir competition – and it appears that winning at all cost is part of the game, even for people singing about the Lord. There is an on-going feud between Dolly and Latifah which to add a little spice to it to make it interesting has Latifah’s daughter and Dolly’s grandson have a romantic interest for each other.

Storyline- wise, I have seen worse.

The music was very lively and full of jubilation that make you want to hop up, shout, twist, shake your booty, clap your hands,  and swing your hips to the Lord’s music in different gospel and hymn styles.  That alone is worth the $1.88 (Redbox Blueray rental fee).
And as an added bonus, if you live in Cobb County, Georgia, you get to see a lot of your homeland as a backdrop.  It was filmed in Cobb County.  We instantly recognized the inside of Howard’s Restaurant on Concord Road in Smyrna.  The church  was recognizable, but we couldn’t quiet place it.  I think the downtown area for the film was downtown Austell.
