This picture was taken a few years ago on top of Six Feet Under Restaurant on Memorial Drive across from the famous Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. Mayors, Governors, and other famous people are buried there such as Margaret Mitchell (GONE WITH THE WIND).
Anna and I had lunch at 6 Feet Under one Sunday afternoon. While there I saw a stairs leading to the roof. I asked a waitress could we go up and look around and she said sure. We went up the steps, had to put my weight against the door to open it (windy). We got it opened and as we started exploring the top and looking at the historical cemetery from high up the door slammed shut. The wind took care of the door. It was locked. We were stuck up there for almost an hour until we got the idea of calling our son and have him call the restaurant to send someone up to free us. The rest is history.
Speaking of history, in my post yesterday I told of Andrews; Raiders stealing The General locomotive and a railroad man named Fulton chased it down on the locomotive THE TEXAN. They caught up with it in Ringgold, Georgia. That is a very short version of the story of THE GREAT LOCOMOTIVE CHASE.
The leader of Andrews’ Raiders was James Andrew. He was hung at the edge of the cemetery across the street on the edge of Memorial Drive, probably about where you are looking.
