Apparently Henry Ridley’s family was over taken by a disease
in 1868 and 1869. Many family members
died in their youth those years. Sad.
Ellla Elizabeth Huddleston was born 18 Sept 1867 in Randolph
County, Alabama.. She lived 19 years She married Henry Ridley, Jr. 6 Dec
1885. Their marriage lasted one year, when
she died.
Harruet lived about 3 years and Joseph lived about 3 months. Joseph died on Christmas day. I think Harriet and George probably did also Scarlet fever?
Direct Ancestors: Henry Ridley, Jr. and Nellie Malinda
Killian lived in Union County, Georgia.
At that time Malinda was married to Solomon Dyson with three kids. Then Nellie Malinda and Henry were married in Murray County with
children of their own. I haven’t came
across any details. Here is the notes I
have on Henry:
He was making shoes for the Confederate
Army when he decided to enlist
He was an avid reader and knew Latin.
Another direct ancestor: Mary Polly Giles Ridley. She is Henry’s mother.
Sam Houston Ridley, son of Henry Ridley,
Sr lived 27 years. Apparently, never
married.
Starlen Ridley was born in 1843, son of
William and Mary Polly Giles Ridley. He
lived about 25 years.
On 29 November 1857, Solomon Dyson, Nellie Malinda Killian’s
ex-husband, married Mary Ann
Colwell. Mary Ann’s previous husband was
Jack Black. Mary Ann and Jack had a
daughter, Sarah Ann Black.
Sarah Ann Black married John Pettyi.
The Ridley family is my mother’s mother’s family. The Petty family is my mother’s father’s family.
It is a small word is the north Georgia Mountains.
