Rolling a Marching Band with Toilet Paper

I just heard on the News that the upcoming seniors at Marieta High School rolled the campus with toilet paper last night.  A tradition going back at least 60 years the report said.

Sixty years?  That started about 4 years after I was a MHS Senior.  Darn!

However, one time at a football game on a Friday night Parks Grover and Leslie Haygood  smuggled in a bunch of rolls of toilet paper under their windbreakers.

At halftime when the opposing team’s marching band made their  musical march of instruments on to the field Parks and Leslie  rolled the playing field.

Parks was an expert toilet paper thrower.  He knew how to throw it high in the air and it unraveled as it went, making a show like fireworks.

Some streams of toilet paper got caught up in the electrical lines and dangled and waved with the wind.

Other toilet streams landed onto other  moving musicians and some were dragging toilet paper tangled up in their legs and shoes, but their music played on.  I don’t think they missed a beat.    That is dedication.
