We watched the latest version of LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott
on cable last night. I think it is the
same story that has been repeated over and over – but the details have
different styles, and different actors have their own bag of tricks to add to
it.
In the one we watched last night, the daughter (Louisa May
Alcott) who is writing about her sisters has a few scenes bickering with her
editor/publisher. Lastly, she closes the
book portraying herself as an old maid and her editor/publisher insisted she changed
it to marrying and living happily ever after, which she did. It is kind of like in the LI’L ABNER comic
strips Al Capp would pop up in the strip to give Li’l Abner guidance. I like that, it shows the book/movie is not
that true non-fiction, truth has been bent to please you the reader/viewer’s
demands.
I thought it was good. Well done!
Also something else I liked:
There was a message at the beginning, as soon as we put in our account
number that we had seven days to check it out, and once checked out we had 24
hours to watch it. Then at the end, the
cable company apologized for not making the connection and please try again
later. Does that mean they don’t know we
watched it? That means it was free,
right?
