It has been 150 years this week that the Battle of Kennesaw
Mountain took place, which effected all of Marietta, and Cobb County... in other words we are under a SESQUICENTENNIAL seize.
There are a lot of Civil War Rein actors (if that is the
correct way to spell that) in town demonstrating how the military men loaded
their guns, cooked, and all they did.
The rape and pillages demonstrations were probably left out.
We visited Glover Park yesterday and learned a lot by two
Yankee soldiers in blue showing us how to load and shoot a rifle, obey orders,
and the two soldiers were also history professors gave their expert knowledge
what caused the war. They asked the
small audience were there any questions
and a few people did have some good questions and the soldiers gave good
knowledgeable answers.
Then, an older than
middle age lady asked them, "Who were the Confederates?" They
him-hawed around and never gave the lady an answer. which goes to prove, contrary to popular
belief, "There is a such thing as a dumb question."
We went to the Marietta Museum of History; The Visitor's Center to see a high school friend, the farmers Market, and the Arts and Crafts booths.
We also went to The Strand Theater to see THE CIVIL WAR, A
MUSICAL EXPEREINCE. It is always interesting
to visit The Strand, I spent many hours of my formative years in that theater. But as
I looked up at the stair case leading up to the railed walkway overlooking the
lobby I think the building is growing smaller and or I am growing larger.
The CIVIL WAR MUSICAL was done very well. It treated causes and both sides of the war
with respect and equally. In places it
sounded much like the high energized JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - which was good.

I took the above picture in the men's room at the Marietta Museum of Hisotry. The picture was taken at Goss Street that crossed the tracks between West Atlanta and Atlanta Streets. Across the tracks from the water tower is about where I was born.
The above 2 pictures are the stairs in the Marietta Museum of History. The stairwell is loaded with ghosts! True! A ghost finders organization checked it with their ghost meter and said the place is loaded with ghosts.
The above 2 pictures are pictures of the room that James Andrew stayed in when he was at the Kennesaw House. The man dummy looking out the window represents James Andrew looking at THE GENERAL train engine which he and his Raiders would train-jack the train in Kennesaw in front of the Lacy Hotel.
The Marietta Museum of History items on display are on the second floor of the Kennesaw House. When you come in from the street, this buggy and headless man with a redcoat will welcome you, to assure you that you walked into the right building.

Above 2 pictures - Marietta now has a Christmas and fudge shop.
See the hat? He is a mime that talks. Its a living.
