Salt Shakers

Potential Salshaker

Here is an interesting fact:  In 1813, a British doctor turned some of King Charles, I's vertebrae into saltshakers. *

It was just one of those odd facts at the bottom of every page of every any UNCLE JOHN'S BATHROM READER book.
The word "saltshaker" for mischief reminded of high school days.  For a while my demented friend would always unscrew the saltshakers and sugar pourers at eateries' tables.   Many of a meal was ruined until some  of the smarter waitresses realized that that kind of accident would always happened after Jimmy Pat  Presley got and up and left.

At Atherton Drug Store, at the lunch booths, I remember once, Jimmy Pat got to leave.  The waitress, Mott, was talking to someone.  Without missing a word of her conversation she walked over and tightened the salt and pepper shakers, and sugar pourer.  She knew.
