in 1571 Mary I, Queen of England, opened up the Royal Exchange of London.
In my mind,
that is small potatoes compared to something else she did while she was in
power:
Queen Mary I
of England declared it was against the law to beat one's wife after 10 p.m.
Is that the
first step for women's rights or what?
