152 years
ago today was the Civil War battle of Kolb's Farm. Kolb's Farm is on Powder Springs Road, at
Callaway Road a few miles south of Marietta.
Major General Joseph "Joe" Hooker was over the Union soldiers and
Lt General John Bell Hood was over the Confederate soldiers.
General Hood, just over a month later would
take command from General Joseph Johnston.
Then General William T. Sherman burned Atlanta.
Another
thing that may survive the test of time is the word "Hooker". General Hooker had women brought in to take
care of the needs (ahem!) of his men.
The word
"Hooker" representing certain professional women may live be forever.
