Marie's
Postcard Collection. The Chattahoochee
River in Atlanta. Technically, this card
did not come from Marie's Postcard Collection, but from Marie's correspondence. It is dated August 26, 1941. That was just several months before Japan's
raid on Pearl Harbor. I was a month and nine days old.
The card
tells of the river flowing out of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlanta using
18,000,000 gallons of its water Daily.
That card was probably printed over 75 years old. I bet the population of Atlanta has grown a
lots since then.
Also on the
card it mentions a proposed plan of making the Chattahoochee River navigable all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.* We are living in the future of the
proposal. We can how far it got.
*Yes, yes, I
know the name of the Chattahoochee River changes it name once it enters
Florida.. Applia..something.
