Valley Forge, Pa, Gen George Washington Winter Headquarters

This was the Winter Headquarters of General George Washington at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, during the Revolutionary War, that we visited when the boys were kids. Compared to today’s dwelling square footage standards it probably rated as not all that big. Plus he had to entertained officers, visiting dignitaries and politicians, and have offices for his help, cooks, a kitchen, and probably the restroom was behind a tree.

I can imagine having a visit from John Jay, one of the head leaders of the Revolution, and after discussing details John Jay asks where he can relieve himself and General George Washing says, among those trees, and be sure to watch where you step.”
