James Andrew and The General Locomotive

James J. Andrews looking out of the window of his room on the 2nd floor of the hotel by the railroad station.  He and his gang are about to take the General Locomotive on a Joy Ride.   They are yankees.

Actually, that is the history of the images.  In this case James J. Andrew is a mannequin in the Marietta History Museum.

The real James Andrews really did that, and got caught near Ringgold, Georgia.  He was hung as a spy in Atlanta, on the outside of Oakland Cemetery.

Two movies was made about THE GREAT LOCOMOTIVE CHASE.
