1958 OLYMPIAN - Dedicated to Mrs Edna Lee

Mrs Edna Poole Lee was a direct to the point teacher. She would really work with aspiring students with one hand and with the other hand slam the trouble making students up against the wall, or that is the way I saw it. The 1958 OLYMPIAN was dedicated to her.

Once when PR and I were in detention that she was monitoring she told PR she had him figured out. She said every time he wore a certain color dyed tennis shoes vandalism happened on the campus. Which was completely wrong.

She forced me to think, her requirement in accelerated geometry that each homework problem be worked or you got a zero for that day's work. It could be wrong, but it had to be worked.

That forced you to think and read a problem over and over until you could work it. She was there at 7:00 every morning if you needed help. There was no excuse for not working every problem. It's been helpful all my life.

  2. Mike, I heard similar stories of her pushing her accelerated students to what seemed to be unreasonable demands, but they thanked her later.
