Speaking of the Marietta bus station, the first structure to the right on this picture, at the corner of Atlanta and Anderson Streets was where the first bus station in Marietta I remember.

Can you dig up anything about the old "employment office", once located near the Square in the mid forties? Actually it was referred to as the "Un-employment" office.

  2. A,
I'll look around. I remember the employment office was in the building owned by Harold Willingham (sp?) at the corner of Waddell and Anderson Streets. And later at the corner of Lawrence Ave and Fairground St.

  5. Geri,
I think they moved to the corner of Lawrence Fairground Streets about 1962 or 1963. I remember Johnny Pascoe had a job there interviewing people. I used to drop by & visit him from time to time, although I had a job.

I guess there's no way to find out who ran it during the mid forties.

  7. Anonymous,
If you read the Marietta Journal daily and read historical books about Marietta, such as Dr. Tom Scott's "History of Cobb County" sometimes the information you want, or a lead to it, just falls into your lap.
