Too Many Exclamation Points!!!!!!!!!!!

(psstt! double click to see the lettering on the balloons to fully digest what I am talking about)

Judy of the blog "Just Ask Judy" said her New Year Resolution was to cut down on her exclamation points that she uses.

That reminded me that one of America’s true-birth art, the comic book the exclamation is used very often. A period most times would not do a sentence justice in show-and-tell situations.

The reminded of EC Comics and the great writer Ray Bradbury. EC adopted some of Ray Bradbury’s stories for their science fiction and horror comics. When Ray saw the result he was very much pleased. He thought they did a superb adaptation except for one thing: Too many exclamation points. But, that is just the way comic books are. He had to get used to it.

The above comic was snatched from the pages of THE HAUNT OF FEAR No 16, the story "The Coffin" illustrated by a fellow Georgian Jack Davis.

  1. Thanks for the link, Eddie. I know that comics make frequent use of exclamations - but I do it too often - and where it is usually not needed for emphasis.
