This morning’s Sunday Morning CBS News Show, on their Almanac
section Martin Luther King’s assignation was mentioned. I did not catch what was said. Rev King was killed in Memphis April 4, 1968,
which today would not be the anniversary of thar.
It reminded of my brief brush with that history.
At the time I worked for Sinclair Refining Company warehouse. Hours or a day or two afterwards it was on
the news that a white Mustang was linked to the assignation and for the public to
be on the lookout for it and call a certain number if you see irt.
Then, about a day after the white Mustang and number was announced Barry, the manager
of the company Sinclair Station at the corner of Peachtree and 14th
Streets called the office and said the white Mustang was being serviced now. What should he do? We told him to call the number that was put
out. He said he had it, he would call it.
That is the last time we heard Barry. Barry disappeared.
Months later, Barry’s wife sold his belongings to help with her
financial strain. I bought Barry’s PV544
Volvo for several hundred dollars, if I remember correctly.
That is all.
