This is Rodin's THE SHADE. I don't know why Rodin named it The Shade unless the shade made him cold or it appears that the shade intimidated the man the statue represents. It was a gift from the French Government to the City of Atlanta to memorialize the 130 Atlanta Art Patrons who was killed in a plane crash in Paris in 1962. I have seen it at various places at the High Museum . The last time I saw it was in front of Museum on Peachtree Street... without even a fig leaf.
